HOW TO COVER PLANTS FOR FROST PROTECTION?

Some plants need frost protection, while others are hardier and will simply lose their leaves and become dormant over the colder months. However, some plants and garden beds need protection from the frost. One of the easiest ways to protect your plants from frost is with a mini polytunnel over garden beds but you can also purchase a roll of bubble insulation from First Tunnels and gently wrap shrubs, bushes and smaller trees. In many ways, this acts like a mini greenhouse keeping the frost away from foliage so your plants can make a quick recovery when the warmth of spring returns. Potted plants are easy to protect. All you have to do is bring them indoors or into a larger polytunnel.

HOW TO PROTECT PLANTS FROM FROST IN A GREENHOUSE?

The marvellous thing about greenhouses and polytunnels is that they can get quite warm during the day, even in the winter. However, the mercury can take a considerable dive overnight and this can result in frost affecting plants inside a greenhouse. To prevent frost from damaging your plants inside a greenhouse or polytunnel, you can install a heater to work during the night or you can cover your plants with insulating materials such as our heavy-duty cloche film or bubble insulation.
