Happy World Naked Gardening Day everyone!

Go out there on Saturday 7th May, and get your ‘Adam and Eve’ on. The idea is that we should all venture out and, unfettered by our usual battered jackets, ancient jeans and leather jerkins, garden in the buff. This is not an unprecedented idea as the first gardeners, Adam and Eve, also gardened without clothing until forced to start cobbling aprons together with fig leaves.

What is World Naked Day?

World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD) is an annual tradition celebrated on the first Saturday of May and is recognised by weeding, planting, hoeing and trimming bushes in the buff……..If anyone else is up for joining in, please watch out for nettles and nosey neighbours – photos of the day, most welcome 🙂 Have a great weekend everyone!

Origins of World Naked Gardening Day

World Naked Gardening Day began in 2005, created by an editor and a permaculturalist aiming to celebrate body positivity and self-love. Initially held on September 10, 2005, the date was moved to the first Saturday in May in 2007 for better weather. Although the founders have since stepped back, the day continues to thrive as a global phenomenon supported by various naturist organizations.
