Irrigation Commercial Polytunnel

A Polytunnel means you take over from Mother Nature when it comes to controlling the elements. Which also means you’re entirely responsible for irrigation…something that can be very time consuming. Unless, that is, you let First Tunnels give you a helping hand.

Irrigation is an option for all sizes of Polytunnel but for bigger Polytunnels especially, our advice is to forget about watering cans and hose pipes. They’re hard work. They’re wasteful. And saturating everything once a day…especially in hot weather…is far from being an ideal practice. Instead, we recommend you install an overhead irrigation system. Not only will it make your life a whole lot easier, but you’ll be amazed how quickly it will pay for itself in terms of saved time, saved money (especially if your water is metered) and improved productivity.

This system incorporates either a twin line which is suspended to either side of the central ridge of the polytunnel, or a triple line, please select the spray lines required when choosing your Polytunnel size.

Supplied with a header pipe, down tubes, sprinklers, inline tap, filter and hose connector. The First Tunnels system features 15cm downtubes incorporating a weight to make sure it hangs true, and an anti-drip device with stable sprayer which keeps the spray lines primed and ready for instant start-up. Our twin line design incorporates 4 inline taps, that allows each half spray line to run independently creating 4 zones, whereas the triple line has 6 taps, again allowing each half of the spray line to run in isolation creating 6 zones. We have also added a master inlet tap that can operate all lines at once, giving you total irrigation control throughout your Polytunnel. This design also helps with any low pressure issues, allowing you to finely tune the distribution of water to your exact needs.

Flexible LDPE pipes distribute water throughout the structure, making it easy to add further lines, add drip systems etc. You can find replacement spare parts here.
