WHAT DO I PUT ON THE BOTTOM OF A RAISED GARDEN BED?

One thing gardeners love about raised garden beds is the convenience. They are often easier to maintain and this includes keeping the weeds away. Raised garden beds generally do not have bottoms and are merely frames for the beds. However, if you don't line the bottom with ground cover weed control, you may very well have raised garden beds full of weeds.

HOW DEEP SHOULD RAISED GARDEN BEDS BE?

Raised beds for gardens don't have to be very deep to grow lush plants and an abundance of food crops. In fact, you may only need about 12 inches (approx. 30cm) of depth for most crops.

DOES IT MATTER WHERE I PLACE MY GROW BED?

The best place for a grow bed is inside a polytunnel or greenhouse. However, raised garden beds also thrive in the sunniest part of your garden but not where the soil tends to become overly wet or waterlogged. If you need to water your garden with a hose, it's probably a good idea to not have the beds too far away from the source of water in your garden.
